election

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

Bongbong Marcos’ choices for the 3 pilot provinces to prioritize in the manual election recount add up his lost one million advantage. That disappears on the night of the May 15, 206 elections in favor of Leni Robredo. Iloilo, Negros Oriental, and Camarines Sur are in his preliminary brief.

Masters of Mockery

Leni Robredo’s lawyers are noted masters of mockery in the political scene. They often ridicule Bongbong Marcos’ moves. In the end, they have to eat up their own statements. “Marcos throws everything on the wall. He hopes that something sticks,” according to Romulo Macalintal and Maria Bernadette Sardillo to the Supreme Court acting as PET.

Macalintal Tirades

Macalintal said that Marcos states in his protest that the 2016 Automated Election System is not in compliant with Republic Act No. 8436. It is a defect which he claims that the whole automated election system is null and void. Now, he wants to be the winner of such election that he contested. Perhaps the veteran lawyer is not any more capable of thinking straight. If the Supreme Court declares Marcos as the real VP winner based on the evidence of the manual recount, it is evident that democracy is not dead.

Clear Grounds for Marcos

In his case brief, Marcos said that the investigation of the results in these three provinces best shows that he has grounds for his election protest. The PET schedules the preliminary conference for Marcos’ protest on July 11.

Slap on Robredo’s Face

Marcos to question Robredo in her own bailiwick is a slap on her face. However, even media surveys show that she was not the ultimate favorite of the Bicolanos as Vice President. The province is divided among the many VP candidates namely; Chiz Escudero, Antonio Trillanes, Gringo Honasan and Alan Peter Cayetano.
