Alvarez still wants to endorse an impeachment complaint against Robredo for being shameless betraying public trust by allegedly putting the country in a bad light before the international community. The President clearly said that he will not support any impeachment. Likewise, the Liberal Party also does not support his impeachment filed by Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano.

Liberal Party Says no to Any Impeachment
The majority bloc members of the Liberal Party will not support the impeachment proceedings against the President. Deputy Speaker Miro Quimbo said that 15 LP representatives from the majority bloc in the House of Representatives met-up with Leni Robredo and agreed not to support any impeachment proceeding. They believe that such move would only divide the lower house.
Just a Mere Distraction
Quimbo also added that an impeachment from the Lower House would only distract Congress from its priorities in legislative tasks. The LP House majority caucus members present thereby confirm their position that no support can be given to any impeachment complaints filed against both leaders.
LP’s Show of Support to Robredo
The LP majority bloc gathered to show force in supporting Robredo who if facing not only impeachment threats but also the financial burden of the electoral protest filed by Bongbong Marcos. Robredo is LP’s highest elected official. “We likewise reiterated our strongest commitment of support to the Vice President, our party leader,” Quimbo said.
How about Financial Support?
Quimbo, however, did not mention if their support to Robredo includes financial provision for her to sustain her counter-protest that is feared to be dismissed due to her failure of paying the initial P8 M deposit ordered by the court. On Alvarez’s intention, it could become difficult for him to pursue Robredo’s impeachment if many people are against it, including the president. It is enough that he labeled the Vice President shameless – as the Supreme Court decides on what to do with her.
