Contrary to the many criticisms on the past administration of former President Benigno Simeon Aquino III, the South China Sea outcome proves that not all of those negative accusations were true. The West Philippine Sea legal claim in the Tribunal was being prepared for – especially when victory is finally achieved starting for the dollar reserves intact to counteract security threats.
Despite the many protests over Japan’s involvement for the country’s defense enhancement, the past administration pursued the passing of the treaty with Japan as supplier of military equipment to upgrade the country’s intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities.
Former Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin indicated that the agreement with Japan will enable Philippine’s security forces to function to the best of their ability as the agreement with Japan will allow them to sell new military hardware as soon as needed, transfer defense technology, donate used military equipment as much as possible and provide defense training to Filipino forces.
