Bongbong Marcos Election Protest Update: Receives Two Notices from the Comelec

election

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

Bongbong Marcos receives two notices from the COMELEC. The first one states that the Election Management System or EMS server diagnostic happened last 12 May 2017. The COMELEC warehouse in Sta. Rosa, Laguna was the venue. The Second notice acknowledges the poll body’s receipt of the Notice of Inventory. That has something to do with Sealing and Turn-Over of Ballot Boxes in Election Protest Case No. 2016-16 (Michael Rama vs. Tomas Osmena).

Transfer of Votes

Witnesses said that they transferred the votes of Marcos to Robredo. This is through the SD cards. Smartmatic people then move them to the servers. Some votes also come from other vice presidential candidates. This is all in favor of the Vice President. This is why diagnostic of the EMS server is required from the Comelec.

Similar Case

Osmeña’s camp files a counter-protest to dismiss Rama’s election protest. He argues that the election protest fails to specify which precincts have alleged irregularities. Rama, in response to the counter-protest, stays clear from any special and affirmative defenses. The former mayor, instead, maintains that the “only way to ascertain the truth and veracity” of the alleged irregularities is through the recount and revision of the ballots.

Recount Processes

The Marcos camp studies the sealing and turning over of the ballot boxes that manifest in the Osmeña versus Rama case. It is speculated that the notice of inventory proves that all materials borrowed are returned. Marcos’ electoral protest might be quiet nowadays because of martial law but rest-assured that his lawyers are working hard to finally reveal the truth.

Updates

Both camps should submit their merits for the electoral protest not later than June 16, 2017. This is five days before the preliminary conference set on June 21, 2017.  Since the martial law news dominates the media right now, the electoral protests updates are rarely mentioned. Therefore, people are speculating that the Marawi incident is orchestrated to take away the limelight from the Marcos-Robredo fight.
