Bongbong Marcos’ Joblessness Allows Him to Concentrate on the Election Protest

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

Gov. Imee Marcos humorously divulged that Senator Juan Ponce Enrile was able to help her at the hearing that pertains to the Ilocos 6 because he is jobless the same as her brother Bongbong Marcos. People should watch out when great men are out of work. They focus so well in whatever they do. In the younger Marcos’ case, it’s the election protest against Leni Robredo that he prioritizes right now. On top of that, discussions that the President plans to abolish the agency tasked to recover the alleged wealth of the Marcos patriarch and his allies. It looks like the tides are now turning to the Marcoses’ favor.

 Election Protest Update

In compliance with the 21 March 2017 Resolution of the PET, Marcos deposited the final installment of Php 30,000,200.- with the Clerk of Court. He also filed a Motion asking the PET to immediately direct the conduct of the technical examination of the voters’ signature appearing on the EDCVL as against the voters’ signature appearing on the VRRs in each of the 2,756 clustered precincts in Basilan, Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao.

Marcos Clan Political Rehabilitation

The President’s move is a remarkable political rehabilitation of the Marcos clan. His detractors note that Du30’s alliance with the Marcos family allows their return to power. Although Gov. Imee Marcos denied the hand of the President on the freedom of her government officials from the Congress Committee, it cannot be denied that they are favored somehow. With regards to the PCGG, Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno said; “They don’t do anything. What do they do?”

PCGG can be Abolished

PCGG exists since 3 decades ago to recover the $10 billion wealth allegedly hidden by the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos. The late President Cory Aquino denied him the chance to explain its whereabouts. However, World Bank testimonies surface that a lot of gold deposits are deposited in Marcos’ name. These serve as gold reserves for the country’s projects for the welfare of the people. They are the reasons why the Philippines can still loan from the WB or IMF for such use.

Prioritize the Election Protest

The only son and namesake, Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. might be officially jobless but he is one of the busiest politicians nowadays. The President for one advises him to concentrate on his election protest because when he’s successful, he can already retire. That is one promise that most loyalists are holding on for the time being. The return of the Marcoses to the executive level seems to be happening in due time.
