Just as when the Supreme Court by PET grants the urgent motion by Bongbong Marcos, Congress fights with the CA. The House of Representatives continued to detail six Ilocos Norte officials. They deliberately ignored the Court of Appeals order to free them. On a positive note, the SC already designate three hearing officers to assist the Tribunal during the preliminary conference on his election protest against Vice President Leni Robredo.

Sorry for the Officials’ Plight
Marcos feels sorry for the situation of the detained officials. He observes that they are beginning to suffer symptoms of depression while in detention. He is not taking this matter sitting down. People can expect legal actions from him in the next few days.
Electoral Protest Plea Granted
In a resolution signed by Felipa B. Anama, Tribunal Clerk last June 14, 2017, PET granted Marcos’ plea. It appointed retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Jose C. Vitug as the chairperson of the commissioners. His members are Atty. Angelito C. Imperio and Atty. Irene Ragodon-Guevarra.
Purpose of the Panel
The panel sets the date for the reception of evidence of all the parties in both the protest and counter-protest. It also receives the affidavits of witnesses and hears their direct testimonies. Cross, re-direct and re-cross examination of witnesses must go through the commissioners. They have the authority to rule on the events that transpire through cross-examination which is subject to review by the PET.
Win Some, Lose Some
Marcos, like any other human being, can’t have it all. It surely breaks his heart that he can’t do anything to ease the burden of the concerned public officials at an instant. Everything just takes time. This is the very reason why he has to push more for the electoral protest because most people are looking forward to his more efficient governance to lead the nation towards the kind of progress Filipinos deserve.
