President-elect Rodrigo Duterte will present his plan to boost the economy before hundreds of business leaders who might be thinking that they are forgotten – with Duterte’s aggressive campaign on crime busting and corruption. It will be a two-day event starting Monday in Davao. Around 300 businessmen are expected to attend with majority flying in from Manila. His agenda includes 10 priorities like tax reform, minimizing red tape, increasing infrastructure spending and more tourism and agriculture promotions.
The details of the plan has been prepared by the President-elect’s economic that were narrowed down to 8 but added 2 more points to accommodate science and technology promotions and stong law inclusion that allows free contraceptives to the poor despite the church’s campaign to disregard this. Sergio Ortiz-Luis, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman emeritus said as reported by ABS-CBN: “Duterte has tapped hotelier and former Agriculture Secretary Carlos Dominguez as his finance secretary, respected University of the Philippines economics professors Ernesto Pernia as economic planning secretary and Benjamin Diokno as budget secretary, micro-enterprise advocate Ramon Lopez as trade secretary and veteran tour operator Wanda Teo as tourism secretary.”
“The joke in the business sector is that the public got tired of student council governance, they’re bringing the professors back,” he said, referring to criticism of outgoing President Benigno Aquino’s relatively younger cabinet.
Majority of the members of Duterte’s official family are senior citizens, like the 71-year-old city mayor, the Philippines’ first septuagenarian president.” Quite a very crucial development despite Duterte’s heavy schedule.
