Vice President Leni Robredo’s intention of leaving a mark to be the Vice President that partners with the President productively seems impossible. All the odds seem to be against her. Nonetheless, she still wants to be remembered as the vice president who did the best she given the very difficult situation. [VIDEO]: MANILA – The odds may not be in her favor at the moment, but Vice President Leni Robredo says she wants to do her best nonetheless, and this is how she wants to be remembered.
Hairline Advantage to Bongbong Marcos amidst Fraud
Robredo becomes the VP after the May 2016 elections where she wins a hairline over Bongbong Marcos. The president at first is convinced by former president Fidel Ramos to try to work with her. He even gives her a Cabinet post but she resigns after the president barges her from attending cabinet meetings.
She resigns as the czar for the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council. Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco Jr. confirms that the president’s order for Robredo not to attend cabinet meetings is due to their “irreconcilable differences.” Later on, the country’s leader expresses his dismay over his VP saying that she is present in many initiatives that try to oust him.
Robredo vehemently denies the president’s accusation of her being an anti-administration VP. However, the media and the people can attest that she always voice out her disagreement to almost all policies of the president. She admits also that she is not the type that keeps quite on issues that are against her principles.
The President’s Opposing VP
Contrary to her initial wishes as VP, she earns the reputation as the President’s opposing Vice President. This is not yet the worst case scenario. Bongbong Marcos’ possible DILG appointment and his go signal on the electoral protest against her from the SC surely adds up to her already bad situation.
