The Humana Drug List that Humana insurance gathered is a list of prescription drugs developed and maintained by a medical committee. The committee comprises of doctors and pharmacists. The type of coverage may cause variances in drug coverage. Whereas currently in the Philippines, President Rodrigo Duterte launches the Celebrity Drug List. This is contrary to the purpose of Humana. It can destroy lives and not designed to save drug dependents at all.
Duterte’s Celebrity Drug List
Incoming Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) chairman Martin Diño reveals that at least 50 celebrities are included in the drug list of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Diño, chairman of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption and party mate of Duterte in the PDP-Laban, says that majority of the celebrities’ cases involve party drugs users. At least 10 are suspected drug pushers.
Not Naming them
The incoming SBMA chairman declines to name the celebrities. He said that some those on the list have already taken drug tests. They are still verifying the remaining ones.
National Capital Region Police Office director Chief Superintendent Oscar Albayalde also confirms that the police has a drug list of celebrities. They are suspected of being involved in drugs.
Albayalde however, comments that they are still validating the list. This is in line with Diño’s announcement.
Arrested Drug Suspects are the Source
The names in the drug list are based on information given by arrested drug suspects. The NCRPO said that the names of the celebrities on the list may be released to the public. It just depends on the decision of either President Duterte or Philippine National Police chief Ronald dela Rosa.
The President’s Drug List
On the other hand, President Duterte releases his drug list of personalities allegedly involved in drugs. It includes high- ranking police officials, government officials and members of the judiciary.
The President also reveals another drug list. That includes the names of Chinese nationals and at least 40 judges.
Dangerous Drugs Act
Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers discloses that he files a bill seeking to amend Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Barbers says he is proposing a stiff penalty. Life imprisonment against the coddlers of drug users and pushers.
Barbers adds that it was important to impose stiffer punishment. This will discourages people from coddling their loved ones and friends who are involved in the illegal drug trade.
