Duterte’s Name Tainted: Demolition job against De Lima Too Obvious

De Lima

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores
In response to Solicitor General Jose Calida casting doubt over Senator Leila De Lima’s reputation when he released a photo showing her with suspected drug lord Jaybee Sebastian, inside the New Bilibid Prison makeshift dwelling, based on Mariz Umali’s report. Indicating that it was just a teaser – showing his determination to destroy de Lima’s reputation. De Lima of course denied these accusations saying that she was not the only official in that event at the Bilibid prison.

The senator clarified that she once attended a Department of Justice event hosted by Bureau of Corrections and headed by BuCor Director Gaudencio Pangilinan. It was at the Bilibid prison with the top officials of the DOJ, including the heads of attached agencies and BuCor officials. This is where ManCom members mingled with some inmates as part of reformatory program of BuCor. Calida just obviously used this scenario to discredit de Lima.

De Lima has been the subjects of attacks from sex scandal to befriending inmates but she has been patient in addressing them. It has been a trend that when your opinion is against the President, his supporters will do anything to malign your reputation. De Lima has been instrumental in winning the South China Sea dispute over China. Calida should better be giving the credit back to de Lima or else he will become too obvious in his demolition job against her, tainting President Duterte’s name.
