En Banc Comelec Voting Discloses Corrupt Officials on SOCE late Filing

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores
Outgoing Vice President Jejomar Binay’s The United Nationalist Alliance or UNA political party formally petitioned Comelec last June 13 opposing LP’s request for SOCE filing extension.UNA Secretary General JV Bautista wrote to Commissioner Christian Robert Lim, Comelec Campaign Finance Office head who already submitted his recommendation to the 7-member Comelec board to reject LP and Roxas’ requests simply because it’s illegal.

Comelec Resolution 9991 ruled that submissions after the deadline will not be accepted. Administrative fines to violators are in store and repeated non-compliance can lead to perpetual disqualification from public office.

LP undermined the law and still submitted its SOCE on Tuesday, June 14 – 6 days overdue. Roxas’s SOCE is still nowhere in sight. Bautista stressed that special treatment must not be granted to the ones who failed to follow the rules because it will be unfair to those who do. Bautista emphasized also that it will be illegal to grant such request which is agreed by Lim but the final decission will still have to be based from the actual en banc voting – so it will be clear who among these Comelect officials are corrupt.
