Former President Fidel V. Ramos, will be the special Philippine envoy to China, flying to Beijing this Monday for initial talks with Chinese authorities on hopefully the peaceful resolution to the intensifying maritime territorial dispute between the country and China.
Earlier, the Chinese government already declined that no further negotiations can be done if Philippines follows the UN ruling. However, the Philippines is pressed in between two rocks with China as a neighbor on one side and the UN on the other side.
Another big thing is being an ally to the Americans which is in competition with China in world trade and other financial matters. The US will be protecting the countries along the South China Sea as the super power that implements international laws to preserve the world’s navigational freedom along the disputed channel. They will be supported by other UN member countries like Japan, Australia and India that has been conducting joint military drills with the Philippines.
