Anomalies on the Ilocos Norte’s vehicle-buying spree must be left to the Ombudsman and the Sandiganbayan anti-graft court. Not to the Batman and Robin of the House. Certainly, not at the cost of a judiciary showdown. As a co-equal branch of government, the Congress shows signs that these two can go against it anytime soon if their wants are not satisfied.

[VIDEO]: House open to talks with judiciary over ‘Ilocos Norte 6’: Umali
Batman and Robin
The House of Representatives under Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez and sidekick, Majority Leader Rodolfo Fariñas are the Batman and Robin in Congress. Fariñas, aided and motivated by Alvarez refused to free six employees of the Ilocos Norte Capitol. He pressed them for the “truth” over the alleged misuse of tobacco excise tax funds that can implicate his family’s rival, Governor Imee Marcos.
Sins of Fariñas
Unfortunately for Fariñas, his efforts are against the public’s will. The late Chief Justice Renato Corona’s conviction by self-righteous Aquino administration’s impeachment process is a constant reminder of his character. Now, his cruelty to the Ilocos 6. He is literally dead in politics as far as the voters are concerned.
The Bully of Congress
Alvarez props up their ill intention by defying a lawful order from the Court of Appeals to free the “Ilocos 6.” The House also plans to arrest Gov. Marcos for refusing to appear before a congressional probe. On top of that, they are about to sue her brother, Bongbong Marcos for advising her to do just that. Speaker Alvarez even threatens to shut down the appellate court. That is a mere disrespect to the Supreme Court where they should make an appeal in the first place.
Undemocratic Moves of the House
Fariñas also threatens to sue the Ilocos Norte provincial board for depriving him of his constitutional rights after his persona non grata status. Strangely enough, he just cannot understand the constitutional rights they deprived the Ilocos 6 of. Despite being the most powerful leader in the country, Du30 made it a point to govern based on the Constitution – just like the late Ferdinand E. Marcos. This is a big contrast to the behavior of the Batman and Robin in Congress. They definitely are prospective democracy traitors, if not to the Du30 administration.
