It is now a matter of urgency for the SC, acting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal or PET to resolve with finality the Bongbong Marcos protest. It is necessary and there is no good reason for further delay. This is now about national security. The nation can’t be stable with the attacks of Leni Robredo against the president in the international scene. The Marcos protest is only one part of Robredo’s legitimacy. It is the absence of a high court verdict to rule on her victory that casts the many doubts.

[VIDEO]: The word war between Leni Robredo and House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez continues as the latter denied that his threats to impeach the country’s second highest official are not irresponsible.
Successor of the Presidency
Robredo is now the nominal successor at least for the time being to the Presidency. This can totally divide the nation if she becomes the president without the Presidential Electoral Tribunal or PET of the Supreme Court as the duly elected Vice President of the Republic. Since her win in the 2016 elections is disputed. A full resolution of the election protest filed by her rival, Bongbong Marcos, is needed to support her claim to the vice presidency. The Filipino public will continue to doubt her victory if this is not obtained at the soonest possible time.
Guilty of Economic Sabotage
Robredo, in her latest bad move, presents herself as the leader only of the political opposition in the country. She addresses herself to the United Nations and the international community as the country’s traitor who denounces the alleged wrongdoings of the President and his administration. On top of that, she urges foreign institutions and the international community to meddle in the internal affairs of the country.
Bongbong Marcos Plea: No More Delay for the SC
Sensible media underline the urgency and importance for the high court to proceed with the protest and organize the recount of the ballots. No further delay in the recount is acceptable. People suffer from the PET’s failure to resolve the protest. It is a major fear of many Filipinos that the procedure lasts as long as the term of the position. The delay is certainly a miscarriage of justice. It is no doubt a grave disservice to the nation if the SC tolerates more delays.
The Marcos protest must be resolved with dispatch to clear the presumption that the 2016 election is the dirtiest ever. The vote recount will prove or refute the belief that the Aquino administration’s connivance with the Commission on Elections or Comelec is responsible for the massive fraud. It is even a common knowledge that they used public funds to manipulate the votes. A credible verdict by the PET will pave the way for the electoral process to regain its prestige.
