Matobato’s story in the senate is observed to be confused with his surrender and release with regards to his illegal possession of firearm case in Davao. Until the last hearing, h e retains that President Duterte is involved with the Davao Death Squad.

Not Afraid of [Death
Matobato testified against several Davao policemen, who he claims are members of the vigilante group, the Davao Death Squad, which was allegedly led by then Davao City Mayor and now President Rodrigo Duterte. He is ready to die and not afraid of [death. He just want to clear his conscience before it happens.
The Other Case
The Davao City Prosecutors Office recommended the filing of charges against Matobato on June 27, 2014 because Matobato had an expired firearm permit when police caught him with a gun near his residence in Sasa, Davao City on June 19, 2014.
Senator Richard Gordon Cut it Short
Gordon said he does not approve of the critical remarks of a CHR commissioner against him and the Senate inquiry on extrajudicial killings. Therefore, he did not allow the agency to testify anymore. He tried to revert to the Death Penalty issue but De Lima contested it. However, it was not seconded. Therefore, it was cut short.
Matobato in PNP Protective Custody
PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa assures Trillanes that Matobato is safe in the hands of the police in Camp Crame and even in Davao City.
