Getulio Napeñas, the former Special Action Force or SAF chief who was the ground commander of the disastrous Mamasapano raid that went out of hand is again a subject of continued verbal beating from former President Benigno Aquino III.
If I was to blame on the Mamasapano incident, why would I not take full responsibility of it?; inquired Aquino and continued mocking Napeñas’ plan that it was very good but only in the drawings. Aquino also elaborated the errors in the operation, particularly the inability of Napeñas to coordinate with the Armed Forces of the Philippines to devise an escape plan for the troopers.
Aquino accused Napeñas of fooling him when he supposedly told him that everything in Oplan Exodus, the operation which seeks to arrest Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli Binhir alias Marwan and his henchman, bomber Basit Usman, was implemented seamlessly – which is a proof that the former President’s check and balance procedure was based on hearsays – and no expert insights were contributed thereby the “no balls” reply of Napeñas made sense.
