Ombudsman Violated Due Process upon Railroading Binay’s Case

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores
The Ombudsman, Conchita Carpio Morales has realized her threats to former Vice President Jejomar Binay by filing the cases of corruption against him. However, Binay welcomed this move as this will pave the way into clearing his name. He was just a bit surprised of Morales’ undying love to the Liberal Party – that despite having a new administration already, she is still loyal to them.

Binay was quoted as saying: “It has been established that the Ombudsman violated due process, Constitutional rights and even its own rules to railroad the filing of the complaint. Her undying loyalty to her LP patrons comes at the expense of accountability and respect for the rule of law,” he said.

The accusations happened while Jojo Binay was still the mayor of Makati – and this was highlighted in a highly publicized Blue Ribbon Committee hearing that showed bias witnesses in connivance with some media like the Inquirer. There were even many instances that former Makati Vice mayor Ernesto Mercado, acting as witness to discredit Binay cited his source of information from Inquirer itself. Binay’s son Junjun was also implicated in the cases since he was Jojo’s successor as Makati mayor.
