Contrary to the president’s comments earlier about Bongbong Marcos not wanting to abandon electoral protest for the vacated DILG Post, Marcos said that he cannot refuse it if offered by the Philippine leader.

There is a major basis indeed on the opposition’s speculation that Bongbong Marcos’ DILG appointment would follow after Ismael Sueno’s departure. A Liberal Party lawmaker said that the firing of Sueno as Interior secretary opened the possibility of Marcos, who is a friend of the President, being appointed to the Cabinet.
Some lawmakers call on the administration to explain why Sueno was fired. Others filed formal charges against him. Pro-administration lawmakers in the House supermajority also praised Duterte for the move. They say that it showed he is not tolerant on corruption.
Undersecretary Catalino Cuy acts as the OIC of the DILG while there’s no replacement yet for Sueno. Marcos is one of the names that floated for the post but when the president was asked, he said that he don’t think Marcos would abandon the protest.
Marcos is Happy to Serve the Du30 Administration
Bongbong Marcos, on the other hand, thinks that there is no such thing as abandoning the electoral protest when appointed in the cabinet for whatever position deemed appropriate for him by the president. He said that he is a public servant and will be honored if called to serve for the Du30 administration.
