Leni Robredo is saved again by the holiday and got one more day extension to pay the P8 M first tranche if the deposit ordered by the Supreme Court for her counter protest against Bongbong Marcos. Robredo’s camp admitted that they have a problem raising the funds. Marcos already paid on time with the help of some generous friends.

[VIDEO]: Raising P8 million in a bid to defend her electoral victory against former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos is proving to be a difficult challenge for Vice President Leni Robredo, her legal counsel said Friday.

Original Deadline of the Supreme Court

The PET denies Robredo’s plea to reconsider in the tribunal’s March 21 resolution. It directs both parties to comply with the payments in two tranches. The first tranche on April 17. That is extended for supposedly five more days for Robredo. The second on July 14.

Cannot Accept Donations or Favors

Robredo might have numerous rich contributors during the campaign. In fact, Kris Aquino was her top contributor. However, as an elected official she cannot anymore accept donations from her supporters because it is against the law.

P8 M-Net Worth on SALN

In spite of the speculation that Robredo actually has more money than the declared resources, she is only worth P8 M in her SALN including fixed assets. Therefore, it is impossible for her to give up everything to pay the first installment of the deposit at P8 M.

Verifiable Loan

The only easy way for Robredo is to get a loan from verifiable sources. Bank loans take a longer time to process and if she relies on this, she certainly cannot comply with the new deadline. Personal loans are possible – but it must be verifiable to avoid public outrage. Whatever or whoever her sources are, the public has the right to know it.
