President Rodrigo Du30 openly declares his siding with Bongbong Marcos. He cannot even admit that Leni Robredo is his Vice President. The Filipino leader is very vocal about the late President Ferdinand Marcos’ namesake as his anointed successor. Lately, Robredo also insinuates running for the presidency. That could only be in 2022. However, Marcos already challenges her position this early with his VP electoral protest where the manual election recount is currently ongoing. Various anomalies are found. It is very obvious in the three branches of government that the resistance against the administration is not only anti-Du3o but more so, anti-Marcos. Political leaders seem to already safeguard their interests whatever the President’s fate or future plans may be.

Despite pledging an alliance with the President, Senate President Koko Pimentel can only be indifferent to Marcos. This is the same with House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez. Both are constitutional successors of the top two positions should the VP or the President is incapacitated. On the other hand, three senatorial bets are coming into place who are avid supporters of Du30. Re-electionist Senator Nancy Binay, Gov. Imee Marcos, and Special Presidential Assistant Bong Go emerge from the many possible candidates to make it in the top spots. Their political platforms are in line with the Marcos-Du30 principles. Truly, the power struggle is evident within the government itself.
