Robredo: The Vice President is not a priority of the President’s schedule

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores
The Vice President is not a priority of the President’s schedule – this is incoming Vice President’s experience with the Duterte administration at least for the time being during the transition period. Robredo was in Tokyo over the weekend upon the invitation of Philippine Ambassador to Japan Manuel H. Lopez for the National Day Celebration for the Filipino Community there. Duterte’s indifference towards Robredo is not a hidden fact. As she is about to be named as the head of the Liberal Party, Duterte’s weariness with their unwanted partnership to run the country became even more difficult. She was not even invited to the Presidential inauguration ceremony and she also has to be inaugurated on her own accord.

Various members of the outgoing administration party have jumped to PDP-Laban, specifically those from the House of Representatives. Peior to this, the LP had almost 120 members in the 16th Congress.

Now, PDP-Laban has more than 70, most of them poached from the LP in the lower chamber. So it is more likely that Robredo will lead a small Liberal Party now that it’s not the reigning party anymore.
