Another Delaying Move
Veteran lawyer Romulo Macalintal, the lead counsel for Robredo, said that he has not seen the document yet. Not seen or received? Note that the five days extension is from the date the notice is received. He, however, assured that Robredo will comply with the new order of the tribunal. She herself said it in the previous interview that she is willing to pay if her motion is junked.
Take note of Atty. Macalintal’s words; “We have yet to receive the actual copy of the order from the Presidential Electoral Tribunal and are still waiting for more details,” Macalintal said this on April 25, the day the decision was served to their camp.
He continued saying; “However, we respect the decision of PET and would like to reiterate Vice President Leni Robredo’s willingness to comply with her obligation to pay the P8 million for her counter protest.” It is just confusing why they have to delay things if they respect the court. Is that because they are guilty of fraud? If so, the only way to remain in power is to prolong the process of the electoral protest.
Supreme Court Spokesperson Theodore Te announced that the PET junked Robredo’s motion for reconsideration on its resolution and directed Robredo to pay the cash deposit. He stressed that there will be no more extension of the five days deadline after April 25, it was assumed.
