Asian Born US Ambassador is the Bridge of Solid America-Philippines Ties

US ambassador

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores
Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said that US Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim affirms the long-standing ties between Manila and Washington. Strains in the long-standing relationship emerge when Duterte assumed power last year. President Duterte is very vocal in his criticisms of President Barack Obama, and US ambassador to the Philippines Philip Goldberg.

Drug War Extremity

US Ambassador Sung Kim is present when President Duterte discloses more public officers in his drug list. This is consist of Mayors, most of the Barangay Captains and some senators. He shows her disgust of one senator who is awarded in Washington DC for standing up against his war on the drug who is allegedly on the drug list as well.

Kim’s Assurance

Duterte and Kim in a separate meeting discuss military and law enforcement cooperation, particularly in the fight against terrorism. This includes the extent of US assistance to Mindanao. Ambassador Sung Kim assures that the US continues to provide support, including intelligence exchange and in maritime security.

Asian Diplomacy

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Kim previously serves as the special representative for North Korea policy and deputy assistant secretary in the Bureau of East Asia and Pacific Affairs at the US State Department. He congratulates the president on the ASEAN chairmanship. Only Asians can understand Asian diplomacy when neutralizing an irritated ally. So, Kim’s Asian background and looks already soften the tough-talking Philippine President. This allows them to have a productive meeting. Philippine-Asian relations, particularly with the socialist countries has been fostered by the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos that Duterte looks up to. Thereby the reason for his support to his son, Bongbong Marcos.

Duterte-Trump Hope

Former President Barack Obama, and then US ambassador to the Philippines Philip Goldberg may have tough times with Duterte – but the relationship between the Philippines and the US is expected to tighten up when President-elect Donald Trump assumes on January 20. Duterte already invited Trump to visit Manila this year after confirming on a telephone conversation that they admire each other’s mouth.

Donald Trump Wins the same Way as Duterte

Donald Trump

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores
Donald Trump is now the President of the United States of America. Many Filipinos can relate on the way he won the presidential race. He has been declared the winner of the presidency and Secretary Hillary Clinton immediately congratulated him through a phone call. His tone has obviously changed now calling everyone to come together – but will this last, given that Duterte has gone through saying more bad words until at this very moment?

Lots of Hispanics Changed Mind at Last Minute

Hispanics and other voters who initially said that they are not for Donald Trump for president has changed their minds at last minute and ended up voting for him. What could have triggered the last minute decision?

Mexicans to Pay Taxes

What would the Mexicans do that they will be asked to pay for the boarder walls now? Will Trump push through with this campaign threat or will he be more diplomatic with the Mexicans for foreign relations sake? He did mentioned after the victory that he will see what other nations need first before making any actions. Florida, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin did it.

Hatred Towards Hillary Clinton

It has been evident through the votes that there are really many Americans out there who hate Hillary Clinton. It’s not anymore a speculation. But do they really know what it means for them? America has decided and it’s not just Clinton. Nothing can be done about that but to go through Trump’s every step.

Americans are not Better than Filipinos

The trend in choosing a “different” president has escalated and even in America that many nations looked up to, they are not spared. Just because they are fed-up with the promises of previous governments, they end up voting for someone who is different but necessarily better. Filipinos initially thought that America can do better and Clinton would still win – but it seems like the Americans themselves have fallen into the trap. Good luck for unity because it’s not happening in the Philippines yet.

Crime Policy of Donald Trump adds to Police Brutality

Donald Trump

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores
Donald Trump calls for the broad use of the contentious stop-and-frisk policing strategy in America’s cities. He embraces an aggressive tactic whose legality has been challenged. In fact, its enforcement has been abandoned in New York.

Donald Trump

Donald Trump noted for African-American Discrimination

The support of Donald Trump for the polarizing crime-fighting policy — which involves officers’ questioning and searching pedestrians — collides with his highly visible courtship of African-Americans, who have been disproportionately singled out by the tactic, data show.

For Mr. Trump, the timing was especially inauspicious: It came as police shootings of black people were once again drawing scrutiny and protest.

Counterproductive Outreach to Black Voters

Donald Trump Trump has long championed stop-and-frisk as a crime-fighting tool in his hometown, New York, but on Wednesday he recommended that it be deployed in cities across the country that are struggling to control violence.

It was the latest twist in Mr. Trump’s awkward, and at times counterproductive, outreach to black voters, who polls suggest remain deeply skeptical of him — and it occurred right after a prominent black supporter, Don King, used a racial epithet as he introduced Mr. Trump at a church in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.

Unfair Category of Black American

As Mr. King, the retired boxing promoter sought to explain how society unfairly categorizes African-Americans, he referred to a “dancing and sliding and gliding nigger,” before quickly correcting himself. “I mean Negro,” he said as Mr. Trump looked on a few feet behind him, grinning.

Mr. Trump described his enthusiasm for stop-and-frisk during a town hall-style discussion, also in Cleveland Heights, after a voter pressed him on how he would reduce violence in black communities. “One of the things I’d do,” he said, “is I would do stop-and-frisk. I think you have to. We did it in New York, it worked incredibly well and you have to be proactive.”

Largely white audience Agrees

During the event, hosted by Fox News, Donald Trump suggested that stop-and-frisk would work well in cities like Chicago, which has been convulsed by gun violence, and Cleveland.

“I see what’s going on here, I see what’s going on in Chicago,” Mr. Trump said before praising the technique again as “incredible.”

Black leaders reacted swiftly and harshly.

Advancing Martial Law

“The idea of creating a national stop-and-frisk policy is the equivalent of advancing martial law and is beyond the constitutional power of the presidency,” Marc H. Morial, president of the National Urban League, said in an email.

In New York, Mayor Bill de Blasio, who has overseen the dismantling of stop-and-frisk as official police policy, said what Mr. Trump was proposing “will simply alienate the very people who we need to be partners in the fight against crime.”

Lack of Understanding

“He does not understand how policing works,” added Mr. de Blasio, a Democrat who is supporting Hillary Clinton, Mr. Trump’s Democratic rival for president.

Stop-and-frisk has become a source of enormous tension between police officers and black residents in the cities that have deployed it as a crime-fighting tool.

Once credited with significantly reducing murders in urban centers like New York by removing weapons and drugs from the street, it has drawn protests and legal challenges. A federal judge in New York, Shira A. Scheindlin, struck down the tactic as unconstitutional in 2013, saying the way the city was using it violated the rights of minorities.

Appeal to Blacks and Hispanics Voters

About 83 percent of the stops in New York from 2004 to 2012 involved blacks and Hispanics, even though those two groups make up just slightly more than 50 percent of the city’s residents.

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg appealed the judge’s ruling, but after Mr. de Blasio took office the Police Department repudiated the strategy and stopped using it. Mr. de Blasio, who dropped the appeal, has called it a “broken policy.”

Similar complaints dogged the use of stop-and-frisk in Chicago, prompting the Police Department to make an unusual concession: It now allows an independent third party to monitor its use.

Mr. Trump remains an unabashed fan of the tactic and has glossed over the legal and racial objections to its use for years. In 2013, after Judge Scheindlin’s ruling, Mr. Trump took issue with those who would end the strategy.

“NYC politicians better stop pandering — ending stop & frisk would be a disaster,” he wrote on Twitter.

As a presidential candidate, Mr. Trump has repeatedly praised the procedure as a proven approach for reducing crime, holding up New York City’s experience as an example.

Stop-and-frisk is a very positive thing

Mr. Trump is drawing historically low support from African-Americans, according to several polls, and he has repeatedly stumbled in his attempts to appeal to them. He earned ridicule a few weeks ago when he told blacks that “you’re living in your poverty, your schools are no good, you have no jobs, 58 percent of your youth is unemployed — what the hell do you have to lose?”

Wednesday was a chance for Mr. Trump to try a different approach, by speaking to black pastors. When asked about recent police shootings of black people in Tulsa, Okla., and Charlotte, N.C., he even seemed to fault the officer in the Tulsa case, saying, “I don’t know what she was thinking, but I’m very, very troubled by that.”

But Mr. Trump’s choice of the 85-year-old Mr. King to introduce him was unusual: Mr. King was convicted of manslaughter in 1966, though he was later pardoned; he has been investigated for possible connections to organized crime; and he has no political experience. He is best known for promoting many of boxing’s highest-rated matches, like the 1974 “Rumble in the Jungle” between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman in Zaire.

Counsel of Black Celebrities

Standing at the pulpit in the New Spirit Revival Center in Cleveland Heights on Wednesday morning, Mr. King quickly veered off course as he recalled conversations in which he counseled black celebrities about the realities of race in America.

“I told Michael Jackson, I said, ‘If you are poor, you are a poor Negro — I would use the N word — if you are rich, you are a rich Negro,’ ” Mr. King said.

It was then that he seemed to slip up.

“If you are a talented intellectual, you are an intellectual Negro. If you are a dancing and sliding and gliding nigger, I mean Negro,” he said, as he chuckled briefly and those in the racially mixed crowd laughed nervously around him.

A smile remained fixed on Mr. Trump’s face.

Beyond the walls of the church, reaction to the use of such an offensive word was quick and unforgiving.

Barbara J. Holloway, 70, from Decatur, Ga., who is black, said Mr. King was “just playing into stereotypes and things that have hurt us in the past.”

“Instead of him trying to bring us forward and be positive in front of Trump, he is trying to take us back,” she said. It was, she added, “out of line completely.”

A few hours later, Mrs. Holloway was frustrated but not surprised to hear what Mr. Trump had said about stop-and-frisk.

“To me, it’s like you would be losing your freedom,” she said. “We already don’t have much value, it seems, and then now they want to say: ‘O.K., ma’am. Put your purse down. I think you got dope.’ They would have no reason to stop and frisk me.”
She added, “I expect nothing from Donald Trump that is really going to help me as a black American.”

Trump

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

Public personalities must disclose important details of their personal life. Especially if it affects their public responsibilities. This includes their health. Tough campaign efforts can make their health deteriorate if not careful. They are still human beings after all. Here’s what Trump has to say for Hillary Clinton by Rappler:

Change of Character

Trump’s Response

Trump’s criticism on Clinton backfires: C can be ‘confidential’ or ‘classified’

Trump

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores

Never criticize others especially when you also don’t know. This quote is applicable to Donald Trump’s actions. Instead of discrediting Hillary Clinton, he looked like the stupid one. Read this:

The Criticism

Donald Trump criticized Hillary Clinton on Sunday for not knowing what the “(C)” label meant. Considering that  it was used on her State Department emails.

But the Republican presidential nominee apparently doesn’t know what it means either.

“Lyin’ Hillary Clinton told the FBI that she did not know the ‘C’ marking on documents stood for classified. How can this be happening?” Trump wrote on Twitter.

Meaning of “C”

John Noonan, a national security adviser to Jeb Bush and Mitt Romney observed. Trump had incorrectly ascribed “classified” to the “C” markings. They actually denote a lower security status, “confidential.”

Noonan wrote, “(C) stands for CONFIDENTIAL. Confidential, Secret, Top Secret are levels of classification. DoD Directive 5200.01.”

The FBI had released a report Friday that detailed its investigation of Clinton’s email use at the State Department. Along with notes from the bureau’s interview with Clinton. According to that report, Clinton told the FBI she was unaware that the “c” markings in certain emails. She was unaware that it denoted the presence of confidential information. She couldn’t recall “any briefing or training” related to handling classified information or federal records. Two talking points that have been central to the political debate over the controversy.

Deletion of Emails

The Republican presidential candidate also taunted Clinton Sunday about polling and highlighted other significant revelations from the FBI’s report, which showed that a former Bill Clinton aide said he could recall at least two times he destroyed old State Department devices with a hammer. The report also revealed that another IT aide had used a software tool called “BleachBit” to conduct a mass deletion of emails on Clinton’s server.

“The polls are close so Crooked Hillary is getting out of bed and will campaign tomorrow. Why did she hammer 13 devices and acid-wash emails?” he wrote.
For its part, the Clinton campaign said it was “pleased” by the release of the FBI report on Friday.

Claimed Responsibility

“While her use of a single email account was clearly a mistake and she has taken responsibility for it, these materials make clear why the Justice Department believed there was no basis to move forward with this case,” Clinton’s national press secretary Brian Fallon said in a statement last week.

CNN reached out to the Trump campaign for additional comment on the tweets, but did not immediately receive a response.
