The Marcos-Aquino camps continue to justify the means of the end results of the leadership of the two influential clans in the country. The survey on their popularity is still on as long as Bongbong Marcos’ election protest against an Aquino follower does not reach the verdict yet. The President who is a known supporter of the Marcoses chooses to highlight the good side of the late Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. He mentions his contributions to the restoration democracy in the country as Filipinos mark the senator’s 34th death anniversary. Du30 also credits the late senator for inspiring a peaceful revolution or what others call a mutiny.

Journalist and Politician
The President also praises Aquino for his work as a journalist and politician that led to positive changes in society. Aquino remained steadfast with his struggle during martial law to fight for what he believes in. Du30 hopes to commemorate his death with his works that inspire the today’s Filipinos. This is to be united and patriotic. The only way to echo the late senator’s famous line: “The Filipino is worth dying for.”
Clash with Marcos
“Even at a time when he was hopeless, he struggles to restore democracy through non-violent means. His deeds have taught us that we should always aspire for the common good. Even if one must go against the grain and do what is necessary,” the President added. Aquino was a vocal critic of the late President Ferdinand Marcos. He was imprisoned and exiled during the martial law period because of rebellion. Marcos saved him from execution by sending him to the US for humanitarian reasons due to his deteriorating health.
Members of both clans are diplomatic enough during social gatherings and meetups with common friends. However, no one can deny that the past rivalry of their patriarchs continues to divide the nation when former President Noynoy Aquino vows to block Bongbong Marcos from the executive office.
Survey the Divided Nation
Political groups via social media are proofs that the country is divided. The online technology these days allow social media practitioners to base their opinions on the data generated from actual online users. Under this climate, the President is right to focus on the good of the opposing party. There’s indeed a good side in everyone. The late Aquino is entitled to be credited on what is due to him.
Foreign journalists may not know how Filipinos really feel about outsiders or traitors inside to tarnish the name of their President using the false reports on extra-judicial killings. It is pathetic to say that Du30 plans to extend his rule using a military form of governance. His declaration of martial law in Mindanao is the same as the intention of the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos. That is to save the country from insurgents and terrorism. Unlike the late Cory Aquino who freed all these criminals because they were in alliance with his husband, Ninoy Aquino, a Marcos rival.

Du30 has become more focused on a military solution just like Marcos because he knows the problem in Marawi very well. The Philippines’ military needs to fight off the IS-related gangs and only through the imposition of martial law throughout Mindanao can make this successful. Insurgencies in the Philippines spread all throughout the country because of the late President Cory Aquino’s innocence in governance. In times of conflict, she was useless. Her late husband was actually the founder of these insurgent groups. This was to destabilize the Marcos regime.
Fake Democracy Icon
Rebel groups multiplied. There are genuine Islamic State zealots in the Philippines. There are also others operating under IS and Abu Sayyaf banners. Their main aim is kidnap for ransom. Extreme radical groups under the IS increased in size at the expense of the main Muslim representative group the Moro Islamic Liberation Front. The peace process under Aquino’s son, ex-President Noynoy Aquino was disrupted by Senator Juan Ponce Enrile and Bongbong Marcos. They both claim that the provisions there are anti-Filipinos and Pro-rebels which is a clear betrayal to the Constitution.
Suspicion arises among anti-administration people that Du30 uses the Marawi incident as an excuse for the broader application of martial law. In 1971, Marcos declared martial law after the Plaza Miranda bombing. It was aimed at a rally of his Liberal party opponents. He suspends the habeas corpus, thereby enabling detention without access to judge or court. This became the prelude to martial law in 1972 and the canceling of the 1973 presidential election. However, that cannot be done at this time because the constitution is already revised. The Congress and the Supreme Court can now out-vote martial law.
Accusations with No Basis
It is a pity that some foreign media could just write news and documentaries as they please without digging into the real situation. These journalists are grabbing the Filipinos’ rights to be heard in the international communities. No wonder, mainstream media in the country is already good as dead. People resort to social media because that is where they can spread the real news as they happen. It is just a matter of statistics right now. So far, Marcos wins via social media and the Liberal Party’s bet, VP Leni Robredo can soon be ousted therough his electoral protest.
The self-confessed former Davao Death Squad member Edgar Matobato is filing a case against the President before the International Criminal Court (ICC) by March, according to his lawyer, Jude Sabio. The case has to be filed in the Netherlands for the alleged crimes against humanity over extrajudicial killings blamed to the President. When it comes to international courts, Senator Leila De Lima who is now in prison on drug-related charges easily comes to mind. This is her forte.

Systematic and Widespread Crime Against Humanity?
Over 7,000 deaths are linked to the drug war. Legitimate police operations and or unexplained killings are included in this count, based on the Philippine National Police data. Sabio said that he will file a case regarding crimes against humanity connected to extrajudicial killings. Crimes against humanity are serious violations committed as part of a large-scale attack against the civilian population.
Sabio said that the said case is already long overdue because Amnesty International’s report is already released as well as the one from Human Crime Watch. Davao policeman Arturo Lascañas also joins in who previously lied under oath that DDS is nonexistent then said the opposite on the 2nd testimony.
The lawyer knows very well that they cannot impeach PDu30 over past crimes before he becomes president. This is why the connivance with the human rights groups is concentrated on the alleged extra-judicial killings that resulted from the ongoing war against drugs by the administration. The trails of the process just have De Lima’s influence in them. The same strategy used by the Liberal Party against the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos.
PDu30 Remains Popular
Despite the character assassination that portrays the president as psychopath, murderer, and dictator, his supporters are still intact. They are too tired of the yellow regime’s mismanagement and want a genuine change. Since the late Ninoy Aquino’s clan failed the Filipinos in their two terms in office, perhaps, it’s about time to pass the torch to his arch-rival’s family through the future presidency of Bongbong Marcos with the support of PDu30?
It is quite obvious that the Liberal Party members try all their strategies against the late Ferdinand E. Marcos to oust the current president. From accusations of human rights violations over his drug war to alleged extra-judicial killings when he is mayor of Davao. Unfortunately for them, he cannot be impeached for an offense that happens during his past tenure. Local and international human rights cases cannot pin him down because the majority of the people are behind him. They can only try to discredit the president through media propaganda and hopes that after a decade or two, the people would turn against him.

Coup Plot is Not Possible
Ramon Casiple, executive director of the Institute for Political and Electoral Reform, explains that any plot to destabilize the administration would not fly at this time because the President has very high popularity rating. “If that is so, the government is shielded from a coup plot or even destabilization,” Casiple added.
Senator Alan Peter Cayetano reveals that the supposed recruitment of officials in government by anti-Duterte groups is a preparation for the planned “mass resignation.” That can be part of a bigger scheme to destabilize the administration. “We have monitored the political movement. These groups are talking to government officials not to vacate their respective posts yet. They urged them to join the planned mass resignation to create an impression that there’s a massive withdrawal of administration support” Cayetano did not disclose his sources.
Senator Paolo Benigno Aquino IV or Bam Aquino says that if the plan is really true, he would not be involved in it. The Liberal Party denies the rumor verbally all the time. But their actions say something else. Cayetano claims that drug syndicates hurt by the government’s anti-drug war are financing moves to oust the president. Like Ninoy Aquino, Bam Aquino can very well act like a saint and turns out to be the devil.
Bongbong Marcos – Du30 Tandem
The more the Liberal Party politicians compare PDu30 to the late Marcos, the more his son, Bongbong Marcos becomes more popular. In fact, it looks like there’s a threat that Vice President Leni Robredo can be disqualified together with other Liberal Party winners over election violations. The president might have to pick a replacement from congress. Nevertheless, the Bongbong Marcos-PDu30 tandem can only happen if he wins the electoral protest against Robredo – and it takes a lot of time at the rate it is going.
The 31st anniversary of the EDSA “People Power” celebration is “meaningless” if the the masterminds of the 1983 assassination of former senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. are not found. The Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) said this since it triggers the revolt.–

Failure of the Two Aquino Administrations
VACC founding Chairman Dante Jimenez calls for the reinvestigation of the case. He laments on the failure of the two Aquino administrations to determine those are responsible. If there’s no closure to the assassination, doubts remain. Jimenez is referring to the term of Aquino’s widow, former late President Corazon Aquino, and son Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
The People Want Closure as Bongbong Marcos Urges
People want to find out the truth. Filipinos want closure that can only be possible through the identification of the masterminds. Article 90 of the Revised Penal Code should apply to the real assassins. It is a crime punishable by death, reclusion perpetua or reclusion temporal of not less than twenty years. Bongbong Marcos asks for the same thing.
Senator Paolo Benigno Aquino IV or Bam Aquino, Ninoy’s nephew, said that the “People Power” revolt belongs to the people and not to the Aquinos. The historic event did not happen only because of his 1983 assassination, he said. It happens because the people want democracy back. They want freedom and fight the widespread corruption, he added. Nonetheless, the people are fed-up because, after the two terms of the Aquinos in the presidency, all the problems mentioned become worse.
False Democracy by the Liberal Party
The constant attacks and rebellion towards the policies of the president are evident from the Liberal Party. These are signs of communism principles. In a democratic country, all must respect the choice of the majority. The LP members really do not advocate true democracy including the blocking of Bongbong Marcos to the Vice Presidency.
