Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella announces that work in government offices and classes in public schools and universities are suspended on Sept. 21, the National Day of Protest. However, Abella stresses that it is not a special non-working holiday. Suspensions in private companies and schools are up to the discretion of their respective management. This is the government’s response to Tindig Pilipinas. The group’s aim is to convince people to speak up on pressing issues. Then, denounce the government’s alleged ‘anti-people policies.’ Amidst all these, former Senator Juan Ponce Enrile said that Sept. 21 is the day that Filipinos must be thankful to the late Ferdinand Marcos.

Not just Liberal Party
The group’s co-convenor, Rep. Gary Alejano of Magdalo Party-list, explained that Tindig Pilipinas was not organized by the Liberal Party. Even if there were Senators who are members of the Senate Minority and former cabinet officials of the previous administrations in the movement.
National Day of Protest
The “National Day of Protest” is for people to exercise their constitutional rights to freedom of speech, peaceful assembly and to seek redress for their grievances against the government, past or present,” Abella said. This is how democracy should be.
Away from Law Enforcers
He said law enforcers are directed to stay away from mass actions and to exercise maximum restraint. Unless their intervention is necessary to maintain public order. Select government agencies will also be on standby to provide emergency assistance near protest sites. The President’s major concern is the people’s safety just like Marcos’ thoughts during the EDSA revolt.
President Du30’s mouth might be as bad as his detractors but at least, he has the late Ferdinand Marcos’ respect for the real democracy. Despite the LP propaganda of his alleged tyranny, former Senator Juan Ponce Enrile lives to this date to testify the late President Marcos’ brilliance. In all his decisions for the country, he was always lawful as supported by lawmakers. Therefore, Sept. 21 can be remembered as the day he saved the country from communism.
A “Special Division of Five Justices” was formed after two of the original members of the 5th Division agreed to allow the former senator to post bail. These are Justices Maria Theresa Mendoza-Arcega and Reynaldo Cruz. Justice Rafael Lagos issued a dissenting opinion. He thinks that Estrada should stay in prison because of the strong evidence. Justices Zaldy Trespeses and Lorifel Pahimna were added to resolve the matter. Trespeses had cast his vote against former Senator, Jinggoy Estrada. With the vote at 2-2, the “swing vote” belongs to Pahimna. She is an appointee of President Du30 who would cast her vote this week to either grant his provisional freedom or not.
[VIDEO]: Former Senator Jinggoy Estrada also hopes to enjoy provisional freedom like Enrile.
The three justices are all appointees of former president Benigno Aquino 3rd. Cruz and Arcega are also said to be very close to Aquino’s executive secretary, Paquito Ochoa. Because of the 2-1 voting, Justices Trespeses, and Pahimna were added to the Sandiganbayan Special 5th Division. This is to finally come up with an official ruling to allow Estrada to bail or not.
Justice Trespeses was the senior lawyer and staff of Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno. Justice Pahimna is formerly a judge in Taguig City. She is the latest appointee of President Rodrigo Du30 to the Sandiganbayan. Since the existing votes account to 2 all already, Pahimna’s vote is the determining factor of the fate of the actor turned Senator politician.
Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang expresses her fear that bail for Estrada might affect the plunder case against former Senator Juan Ponce Enrile and aide Jessica Lucila “Gigi” Reyes. It is pending before her 3rd Division. It might also “open the floodgates” for the release of former Senator Bong Revilla. He is also in jail for pork barrel misuse.
Not the Main Plunderer
Estrada’s lawyers argue that the charge sheet failed to allege and identify the senator as the main plunderer. There was no proof that he acquired ill-gotten wealth of at least P50 million, they said. That is the threshold amount for plunder. The defense also referred to last year’s Supreme Court ruling that dismissed for lack of evidence the plunder case filed against the former president and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. This is in connection with the alleged misuse of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office funds during her presidency. That decision led to Arroyo’s freedom.
Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) Chief Persida Rueda Acosta denies Senator Risa Hontiveros’ statement that PAO said there are “patterns” in the killings. Acosta clarifies that the similarities in teenager killings actually discredit the police force. They are all children of OFWs, good looking, and have stores in front of their house. It is likely the works of the enemies of the government who are out to destroy the President’s drug war.

The President’s Promise
POLICE officers involved in the slaying of teenagers in Caloocan City will be held accountable if results of the investigation will prove that they commit wrongdoing, President Rodrigo Duterte assured Wednesday. “I really said we will protect the soldiers and policemen. No doubt [about that] but always, there has to be the element of the performance of duty and you do not kill defenseless persons,” Duterte said.
No Order to Kill
“I really said we will protect the soldiers and policemen. No doubt about that but always, there has to be the element of the performance of duty and you do not kill defenseless persons,” Duterte said. “I’m sorry but I will pursue the case against the police and [if] need be, they will go to jail. I did not order to kill a child or an adult, and even the enemy on bended knees. That’s not the norm or the rule of democracy,” he added.
Acosta cites the many cases PAO handles that defend various men and women still serving jail sentences. They include men in uniform whose cases are either ongoing or disputed. She begs in tears to have pity on the hard working police officers who are pre-judged. The PAO Chief specifically calls on Hontiveros to refrain from making accusations.
Out to Destroy the Du30 Administration
It is evident that the “yellow” faction follows a familiar process to destroy their political enemies since the Marcos regime. As what Atty. Madrid said on Trillanes who just spews propaganda to get back at the President. The out-of-tune Senator wants to strip Paolo Duterte in public to see his Tattoo to prove his alleged TRIAD affiliation. This is for not choosing him as his running mate in the 2016 presidential elections. Hontiveros who has been anti-Marcos is also critical to the current administration for favoring the Marcoses. The public asks; Does the LP mastermind the killings?
Senator Bam Aquino said; It’s just right that the Marcoses return their wealth to us because that’s the money of the Filipino people. It really should be returned, but the question is, how much of the money they stole will be returned to us? It should be the entire amount. He stresses that the gold reserves deposited by the late Ferdinand Marcos for the welfare of humanity at various international banks sanctioned by the World Bank were stolen by the Marcoses. He made it obvious that he has no knowledge at all on how they were acquired and how much the Philippine government can collect in taxes to own them.
YouTube Video by; Elena Grace Flores [VIDEO]: Senator Bam Aquino takes the opportunity to accuse the Marcoses of stealing the wealth for humanity and demanded its total return. This is despite the fact of not having the clue on how they were obtained.
Senator Risa Hontiveros said the family’s wealth never belonged to them in the first place. “Saying that they are willing to return portions of the ill-gotten wealth means that they have it. And the wealth never belonged to them, to begin with. Generations of Filipinos who suffered deserve more than crumbs from the table,” Hontiveros said. The lady Senator refuses to acknowledge that the Marcoses are innocent until proven guilty. The surviving family members of the late President cannot even own the reserves. Let alone move them. Senators should investigate first before opening their mouth to save themselves from shame later on.
Senator Francis Pangilinan also said that the intentions of the Marcoses should not be taken at face value. Aside from returning the ill-gotten wealth, the Marcoses should also apologize for atrocities committed during Martial Law, he said. Why would the Marcoses apologize to the people after their patriarch secured the said wealth for their welfare from corrupt politicians?
The President’s Call
The President said that the ousted president secured the wealth because he was just protecting it for the economy. Even his own family does not have the right to decide on what to do with them. This is why Imelda Marcos pleaded with the government since time immemorial for the Senate to study how they can be put to good use for the country.
Bongbong Marcos’ Electoral Protest
The news breaks when Bongbong Marcos urges the Supreme Court to order the retrieval of ballots from key provinces for the recount to take place immediately. This creates speculations that he’s bribing Du30 to interfere with the process. However, isn’t it the Senators’ job to find out the real score before judging anyone?
The jobless Bongbong Marcos, for now, cannot jeopardize his election protest against Vice President Leni Robredo. Marcos shows his support to sister Gov. Imee Marcos during the Ilocos 6 hearing with fellow former Senator Juan Ponce Enrile. According to political Analyst, Ramon Casiple, Marcos’ protest can reach the 2019 election. The Marcos’ Camp is also aware that delay is the name of Robredo’s game. Therefore, as seen during the Ilocos Norte excise tax hearing in the Congress, it’s evident that the governor is the likely bet for Senator.

All for 2019
The initially perceived as negative publicity for Gov. Imee Marcos has turned into calls for her to run as senator. Since she is now constitutionally barred from seeking reelection in 2019, running for Senator is the best option. Her brother can also seek for another senatorial term but he has gone through a lot already with his protest against Robredo that he cannot just abandon it.
Political analyst Ramon Casiple says Bongbong Marcos is yet to decide whether he’ll run for senator in 2019 but he is now unlikely to do that. He has to continue with his electoral protest against Vice President Leni Robredo to satisfy public interest. Casiple is the chairman of the Consortium on Electoral Reforms. He said earlier that the speed of the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) resolution of the case can make it or break it for Marcos.
Senatorial Race Not for BBM
If Marcos runs for Senator, the electoral protest will be moot and academic when he wins. In most cases, the PET just drop the case because of lack of interest. This is the reason why it is necessary for them to block every delaying tactics of Robredo’s camp.Marcos camp’s proposal to have 3 hearing commissioners, one for each cause of action in his electoral protest is a strategy to resolve the protest in less than two years but other factors before that already delayed the process. Robredo’s lawyer, Romulo Macalintal is very good in questioning every detail of his actions.
The Governor is the 2019 Bet
Since the governor already expresses her intention to help in creating or revising laws, she’s ultimately the best bet for the Senatorial race as far as the Marcos Camp is concerned. Bongbong Marcos is being molded for the Presidency anyway. He has a lot of time to prepare for the 2022 elections.
