A urinary tract infection or UTI happens when bacteria and infectious organisms managed to invade the urethra, bladder, ureters, or kidneys. Frequent and urgent urination, burning or painful urination, and blood in the urine are the usual symptoms. Women experience this more than men because the female genital is more prone than infection because of its moist and secluded nature.
The most effective treatments for UTIs are prescription antibiotics. While over-the-counter medicines offer relief from the pain and discomfort of these infections, they don’t cure UTIs. Urinary tract infection treatments without prescription include Cystex and AZO. According to drugstore.com; Cystex contains the antibacterial methenamine as well as sodium salicylate, a pain reliever. AZO contains the medicine phenazopyridine, which works in the bladder to relieve pain. Don’t be alarmed if phenazopyridine turns your urine an orange-red color. This is normal.
