The United States, as a Pacific nation’s super power is dedicated towards maintaining security and prosperity adherence to freedom of navigation and overflight throughout the overlapping passageways along the Indo-Asia Pacific. As The Hague-based UN arbitral tribunal is about to make their verdict soon, that is expected to rule in favor of the Philippines has acted upon China’s harrassing their neighbors along the disputed areas. Although China continued to undermine the U.N. the United States took it upon their leadership to warn China that they are serious in preserving peace as what the U.N. is for.
Two US Navy aircraft carriers and its Great Green Fleet had just come from a trilateral exercise called Malabar, among the US and Indian navies, in conjunction with Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, joining up with the USS Ronald Reagan in the Philippine Sea.
China is claiming around 90 percent of the 1.35-million-square-mile South China Sea, that is disputed by the Philippines along Scarborough Shoal, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei and Taiwan. Tensions are building up around the region and it cannot be denied said Rear Admiral John Alexander, commander of Battle Force 7th Fleet and Carrier Strike Group who took this incident as a good training opportunity.
