Wait and See
There’s nothing much can be done with the VP race electoral protest but to wait and see. Each contender can only hope for the best. V.P. Robredo resigns from her cabinet post. An important position awaits Bongbong Marcos. However, there’s no position cited yet for him to occupy.
Change to Federalism
Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez swears to work double time for the government system shift. President Rodrigo Duterte endorses this. He also added that he will cut his term short if this is already implemented.
Enrile Explains Federalism
Federalism structure with the presidential system like in America has two branches of government in the upper and the lower house. The lower part is divided into states. In an event that there’s a corrupt president, the rest of the states can still function effectively.
Many are guessing that the President would like to get rid of V.P. Robredo but how would that be possible considering the two changes mentioned? If SC rules in favor of Marcos and the recount for the ARMM votes show that he won in that region, then Philippines might have a new V.P. The presidential system of Federalism continues having a V.P. Otherwise, if with the parliamentary system, it might be dissolved.
