[VIDEO]: The Supreme Court, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), has set on June 21 the preliminary conference on former senator Bongbong Marcos’ poll protest against Vice President Leni Robredo.
In a preliminary conference, both parties are ordered to narrow down the dispute officiated by a clerk of court. It is set by a tribunal to make the process faster. Marcos through his legal counsel Vic Rodriguez filed a two-page motion before the PET to set the case the preliminary conference last January 26. With the Supreme Court’s grant. his poll protest can now proceed.
Hated by LP but Loved by Du30
Speculation is very strong that Marcos can be appointed as cabinet secretary soon. In spite of the Liberal Party of Leni Robredo’s detesting Marcos, the president and his cabinet favor him greatly. It’s not because of the 219,127 margin of votes. that he is contesting – but LP’s indifference of the Marcoses started since the time of Bongbong Marcos’ father. It is just continued by Robredo at the present time.
Senior Position for Marcos
If Marcos is appointed, it will be to a senior position for sure. Possible posts with no permanent heads right now are Foreign Secretary or Interior Minister. Senator Alan Peter Cayetano is very vocal that he wants to be the DFA head and as his running mate, Du30 would probably appoint him as such. Ex-DFA Secretary Perfecto Yasay Jr got rejected by the Commission on Appointments because of his citizenship status. Whereas ex-DILG Secretary Ismael Sueno got fired due to corruption allegations.
Binay’s Good Job on HUDCC
Robredo resigned from her Cabinet post as chairperson of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) last year after the president told her that she should no longer attend Cabinet meetings. Leoncio Evasco Jr. replaced her as HUDCC chairperson in a relatively minor administrative rank. Former president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino parked ex-VP, Jejomar Binay, in the HUDCC chair to keep him away from cabinet decisions but he did a very good job alleviating the lives of the poor despite a restricted budget coming from ex-Pnoy’s office. Aside from that, Binay also has a proven track record as adviser of OFW affairs. Since Du30 really needs competent people and Binay also has a solid alliance with him and Marcos, he can be a great help to the current administration.
