World War: Russia asked by SKorea for NKorea to halt Nukes

World War

welcome By: Elena Grace Flores
It is unlikely that South Korean President Park Geun-hye has called on Russia recently. They asked to seriously  increase pressure on North Korea to halt its nuclear program. This is on top of their call  to other major global super powers. Somehow, the effort did happen. If North Korea will listen to the call, there’s a possibility that cooperation between the two divided nations will start anew. We could be preventing World War 3.

World War 3 Feared

“If we cannot prevent (North Korea’s) development of nuclear weapons, the nuclear threat will become a reality soon,” Park told a business forum attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinz Abe in the Russian Far East city of Vladivostok.

Nuclear Threat becoming a Reality

“In order for Pyongyang to take the decision to abandon its nuclear programme, it is important to give it a strong unified message.”

North Korea has threatened the world when it facilitated its fourth nuclear explosion last January and followed it up with consecutive missile tests undermining United Nations sanctions. Pyongyang believes that they can do whatever test they want in their own land.

In June, it was recalled that North Korea test-fired  two mobile Musudan rockets. One of climbed up to 1,000 km or 600 miles, which is enough to fly more than 3,000 km or 1,800 miles down range.

More Tests

Aug. 24 test was reported when Pyongyang fired a submarine-launched ballistic missile or SLBM  towards Japan that traveled at  500 km or 311 miles.
“If North Korea abandons its nuclear program and chooses the path to openness, we, together with the international community, will be ready to actively support it,” Park said.

Earlier CNN has also reported how the nuclear tests came about or how they are being facilitated despite resistance from neighboring countries and international bodies.

The following are the world’s fear when North Korea’s nuclear tests will not be reprimanded:

  • Environmental damage
  • Triggering World War 3
  • Physical damage
  • Health deterioration
  • Other countries will follow suit

If Russia will heed to the call, it will be a good sign that the world can have universal peace and general destruction will be far from happening. So, ally or not North Korea should listen to these countries advising them to stop nuclear tests at the soonest possible time. It might be the chance for both South and North Korea to become one again. No to World War 3.
